Trader Joe’s launches brand new type of store

New York’s fast-paced lifestyle now has a new ally in the quest for quick and affordable meals: Trader Joe’s Pronto. Conveniently located near Union Square, this innovative grab-and-go outlet introduces a fresh approach to lunchtime efficiency, minus the usual lines. Launched just this past Tuesday, Pronto caters perfectly to New Yorkers in search of a quick, wallet-friendly solution to their midday meal dilemmas.

A Solution to the Lunchtime Queue

Why is this lunch spot different? Trader Joe’s Pronto addresses the need for quick, affordable meals without sacrificing quality. Local workers like Annie Bisnauth, Kim Berger, and Renee Hong, frequenting the area around the 14th Street location, have already noted Pronto as the perfect solution to their daily lunch quests. This new venture, set up in the space once occupied by the Trader Joe’s Wine Shop, reflects the store’s innovative approach to meeting the community’s needs while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Easing Congestion with a Convenient Extension

Shivana Omadath-Heetai, the Store Captain, explained that Pronto was created to reduce the main store’s crowding and expand its offerings. Pronto stands as an extension of Trader Joe’s Union Square store and is specifically designed to cater to customers looking to quickly grab their favorite items while avoiding the crowded aisles of the main store. Perhaps the best part is the location because this area is frequented by NYU students and local workers and is a hotspot for those darting in and out during lunch hours.

Curated Selection for On-the-Go Needs

What can you buy here? Trader Joe’s Pronto offers an array of items perfect for on-the-go consumption, excluding typical grocery staples like milk, eggs, and bread. Hence, shoppers can expect to find salads, wraps, pre-packaged meals, fruits, soups, yogurts, an extensive variety of drinks, dips, cookies, desserts, and seasonal items.

Shopper Renee Hong highlights the store’s unique offerings, like microwaveable egg bites, which are comparable to those found at Starbucks but at a more attractive price point. Yet, despite the enthusiasm surrounding Trader Joe’s newest venture, the company has clarified that there are no immediate plans to open additional Pronto markets either in New York or nationwide.

Honoring a Legacy

The name “Pronto” holds a special place in Trader Joe’s legacy, tracing back to the company’s early days. Before evolving into the Trader Joe’s we recognize today, founder Joe Coulombe ran a series of convenience stores named Pronto Markets. The transition from Pronto Markets to Trader Joe’s marked a pivotal moment, emphasizing distinctive and contemporary offerings. With the introduction of the Pronto name to its grab-and-go store, Trader Joe’s not only honors its roots but also charts a course toward the future, blending tradition with innovation.

Operation Hours

The grand opening of Trader Joe’s Pronto marks the beginning of what many hope will be a successful endeavor in combining convenience with the Trader Joe’s shopping experience. Open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and equipped with six cash registers, Pronto is designed to facilitate a smooth and quick shopping experience for all who enter its doors. If you are in the area and haven’t already, stop by and check out this one-of-a-kind market!
